Eleotrophllio Displacement Reactions Involving Organoboron Compounds Effects of Substituents on the Hates of Reactions between Hydrogen Peroxide and Benzeneboronic Aoid

The reaction between hydrogen peroxide and benzeneboronic acid in aqueous solutions produces quantitative yields of phenol and boric acid, formally this would appear to be either a homolytic or an electrophonic substitution in the benzene ring, in which the boronic acid group rather than the usual hydrogen is replaced.
