DETERMINATION OF THE MOTION OF A BODY FROM MEASURE* OF FLOW AHEAD OF THE BODY

In one method of determining the velocity and the angles of attack and drift at the center of gravity of a submerged body, pressure-time records are taken with a multi-holed pitot-yaw-head probe situated ahead of the body. A method of analyzing the pressure data, taking into account the effects of un¬steady and nonuniform flow is developed on the assumption that the flow is irrotational.
