It appears that the tantalum electrolytic capacitor will find increasing usage in many applications where the conventional electrolytic capacitor is usually resorted to. Indeed, many of the electrical and physical characteristic of this capacitor rival those of paper dielectric capacitors. This will become more apparent as development in this relatively new field continue and are made known. Since the characteristics of the aluminum electrolytic are fairly well-known, it is convenient in the following to use as a basis for comparison the aluminum electrolytic capacitors described in Military Specification JAN-C-62:nA.tThe tantalum electrolytic capacitor lends itself to use in miniaturized and transistorized equipments.nB.tTemperature-wise, the tantalum capacitors discussed herein have a range of operation from -55℃ to / 85℃ as opposed to – 40 to/85℃ for the alumimon electrolytic.
