1. Total protein, succinic dehydrogenase, DPN cytochrome c reductase, cytochrome oxi¬dase, and catalase activities have been quanti¬tatively estimated in normal rabbit retina and choroid tissue homogenates. The enzyme concentrations were expressed as unit activities. Specific data for liver and brain cortex were also included.n2. Retina and choroid possess relatively low unit succinic dehydrogenase, DPN cyto-chrome c reductase, and cytochrome oxidase activities in contrast to the high activities detected in liver and brain cortex.n3. For the enzyme catalase, liver possessed very high unit activity. Considerably lower but good activity was found in choroid. In contrast much lower, yet equal activities were uniformly detected in retina and brain cortex.n4. In order to establish the relative con¬centration for each component analyzed, com-parisons were made between each tissue, by assigning a value of 100 percent to the liver.n5. The endogenous activities of retina, with respect to the reduction of ferricytochrome c in the absence of succinate and DPNH, were 34 and 6 percent, respectively. For choroid, the endogenous activity values obtained were 29 and 5 percent, respectively. The other tissues gave no endogenous activity.
