Viscoelastic Properties of Natural Rubber and Gr-S Gum Vulcanizates

The stress-relaxation behavior of natural rubber and GR-S gum vulcanizates in their second-order transition regions were compared. By well-established theoretical methods, the corresponding o relaxation spectra and dynamic moduli were calculated at 25 C.nThe greater heat build-up of GR-S tires may be readily accounted for; some support was found for a molecular-scale explanation of this phenomenon. A useful, simple empirical representation of stress-relaxation data has been proposed.
