Elastomeric compounds based on quaternized butadiene/ vinyl-pyridine (Bd/MVP) copolymers were evaluated for possible use in Ordnance applications. The chief factors investigated were the following:n1. Effect of varying the proportion cf vinyl-pyridine in the copolymer.n2. Variation of type and amount of quaternizing agent.n3. Compounding study on 85/15 Bd/MVP copolymer.n4. Use of antiozonants in compounds based on quaternized Bd/MVP copolymer.n5. Blends of Bd/MVP copolymer with nitrile rubber.n6. Blends of Bd/MVP copolymer with polychlorcprene, GR-S, and phenol-formaldehyde resin.n7. Evaluation of quaternized terpolymers of butadiene/ vinyl pyridine/acrylonitrile (Bd/MVP/An) and of butadiene/chloroprene/vinyl pyridine (Bd/Cp/MVP).
