摘要

The creep of lead has been investigated experimentally at the University of Illinois for a number of years by Herbert F. Moore and various associates. These data are widely known and used extensively by engineers when dealing with problems involving the creep of lead. The results herein reported are a con¬tinuation of an earlier study by the writer(5) of the creep characteristics of lead. The present work is based entirely on the data published by Moore, et. al.(1,2,3,4) between the years 1932-1943 and, particularly, the 1938 data(6) The writer has analyzed the data from the standpoint of the Absolute Rate Theory and a four-element mechanical model. An inspection and study of the results of the analyses lead to the conclu¬sion that the Absolute Rate Theory is a highly satisfactory engineering hypothesis with which to treat the creep of lead.
