STUDY OF RADIOTELEPHONE VOICE PROCEDURES AND RELATED RESEARCH

Monosyllabic nonsense syllables were structured by combining consonants and vowels, with respect to hub location, to effect three discrete magnitudes of transition (minimum, medium, and maximum). Tests on recognition of these transition categories, done with six male American speakers and 2k trained American listeners, indicated statis¬tically superior recognition of forms involving minimum transitions between consonant and vowel. Other pertinent observations are included with an evaluation of their relation to intelligibility.
