COMPOSITE CHARTS OF SOME SYNOPTIC FEATURES OF SQUALL LINES

A method of random selection was used to choose twelve squall lines for investigation from the total number of squall lines in the United States east of the 100th meridian from 1950 to 1954. Precautions were taken to. minimize bias wherever possible. The purpose of this study was to deter¬mine some of the processes involved in the maintenance and structure of squall lines, and to demonstrate these by means of composite charts of some of the synoptic features.
