Corrosion studies were made to determine the extent of attack by JP-5 jet fuel on JQ-30 and 90-10 copper-nickel alloys. Three fuels were used in the study: a West Coast an East Coast, and a Gulf Coast fuel. Naphthenic acids were added to all the fuels in the test.nBoth copper-nickel alloys showed some corrosive attack with the fuels tested. The West Coast fuel appeared to be somewhat less corrosive than the other two fuels. Of the two alloys, the 70-30 copper-nickel was less susceptible to attack.
