New calculations concerning the determination of the complex index of refraction of high loss liquids have been made. It is shown that the standing wave system becomes increasingly asymmetric as the loss increases. The equations obtained provided a basis for calculating the results from planned experiments. They do not affect the previously reported measurements on low loss liquids.nA progress report on the construction of a new spectrometer is also included.
