A creatinuria of about 20-fold the preirradiation level was found in rats during the first 5 days after irradiation with 1,500 r of Co" gamma rays. A concomitant 3-fold increase in the plasma crea¬tine was also found. Irradiation with 750 r of gamma rays resulted in a creatinuria which was not as pronounced. Irradiation with 1,500 r of x-radiation resulted in a 20- to 30-fold creatinuria on the second postirradiation day. Irradiation with 435 r of mixed fast neutrons and gamma rays (3:1) resulted in a 36- to 63-fold creatinuria on the second postirradiation day. In animals that died, a profound creatinuria, reaching levels as high as 85 times the preirradiation value, occurred and continued until death
