On Maximum Principles for Non-hyperbolic Partial Differential Operators

The main part of this paper is concerned with sufficient conditions for the validity of the weak maximum principle. The results of this part are then applied to find the behavior of z at a point of the boundary where z takes its maximum value and to deduce certain strong maximum principles.
