STUDY OF INTERFERENCE CAUSED BY VHF FORWARD SCATTER CIRCUITS

VHP ionspheric forward scattering circuits seriously interfere with other established communication circuits on the same frequencies. The interference is not however caused by the ionspheric scatter mechanism but by the ground and tropospheric waves, whose magnitudes are functions of the transmitter power output. A typical VHP forward scatter circuit creates interference on the beam path at distances up to 600 miles from the transmitter. An increase in transmitter power output, or meteorologic conditions favorable to the formation of tropospheric ducts, increases the interference range.
