The present report does not present final answers to this problem. It does, however, furnish data which may be helpful to the person who must ultimately weigh this question in terms of a specific procedure.nDuring the course of our primary research activity on the problem of noise-susceptibility prediction, we have amassed considerable data on the thresholds for pure-tone stimuli of varying temporal pattern as measured by the Bekesy-type, automatic threshold recording technic. The present report analyzes some of these data in terms of their significance for the general area of automatic audiometry.
