Physical-The Model 191X, illustrated in Figure 1.1, is housed in a welded steel case finished in blue crackle lacquer, and proved with a folding bail-type steel handle. Four feet are provided on both the bottom and the back so that the instrument may be used either vertically or horizontally. The frequency calibration is carried on a large, 8 etched dial which may be driven directly by means of a large knob in the center, or from a vernier driven (giving a reduction ratio of approximately 15 to 1) located at the edge of the main dial. The vernier drive may be completely disengaged from the main drive by pulling forward on the knob. All other controls, scales and connections are clearly designed on the panel as illustrated in Figure 3.1.
