摘要

The work during this quarter (and including June l – July 15) has brought the microwave detection method of observing Doppler reduced and optically pumped Pb87 resonance lines to completion. The results show that the gas cell technique can be made to work as well as atomic beams, but with greater simplicity and several other advantages. The pressure shift has been more carefully measured and found to be much less than previously estimated.
