The objective of the design study covered by this report was to supply a cooling air stream of changing magnitude to a box of electronic equipment such that the ambient temperature within the compartment was maintained constant, regardless of the change in ambient conditions. The analysis necessary for the design of a suitable impeller was made, and the horsepower of the fan motor obtained. Investigations showed that an alternating current 400 cycle three phase motor was preferable to a direct current motor because of the inherent difficulties of the latter under high altitude conditions.
