1.Pronounced, dissimilar, bleaching effects were produced in Kadon and Fastcrown powders in ethylene dichloride solutions following their exposure to long-wave ultraviolet radiation.n2. None of the powders in solution showed any significant color-absorbing substances or near ultraviolet absorbing substance pro-duction following their exposure to long-wave ultraviolet radiation.n3. Exposure of Kadon and Fastcrown powders in solution to short-wave ultraviolet produced definite bleaching effects in the visible light absorbing range from 700 to 425 m/i. Again, no bleaching effect was evident in the Replica or control powders in solution following their exposure to short-wave ultraviolet radiation.n4. Kadon yielded very slight color absorption following short-wave ultraviolet exposure, Fast¬crown powder somewhat more, and Replica and the control polymethylmethacrylate powders considerably more.n5. Each of the powders in solution showed marked near ultraviolet absorption following their radiation by short-wave ultraviolet radiation.n6. The manner in which these spectral changes may contribute to those changes previously described in the polymerized plastic specimens have been discussed.
