Postirradiation Creatinuria in Macaca Mulatta Monkeys

Four adult male Macaca mulatto monkeys, averaging 9 pounds in weight, were placed on a creatine-free diet for seven to nine days. After the urinary level of creatine ex¬cretion had reached a plateau, the animals were irradiated with l,000 rep of x-rays. A creatinuria of approximately four times normal was excreted over the first four days in a pattern similar to that previously found in the rat. On the second postirradiation day the average creatinuria was about seven times normal. This effect is compared with other species reported in the literature.
