The Thickness of Lemon Creek Glacier, Alaska, as Determined Gravity Measurements

The gravity method of geophysical explora¬tion has been employed to determine the thickness of a valley glacier. 182 gravity stations were established on Lemon Creek Glacier, Juneau Ice Field, Alaska. Using the appropriate ice-rock density differential, cross-sectional shapes of the glacier are computed to fit observed variations in the Bouguer anomaly on traverses across the glacier. Results are presented on cross section diagrams and on an isopach map.
