Ether-Soluble Substances on the Skin of the Human External Auditory Canal

Technics were developed for collecting specimens suitable for analyses of the ether-soluble substances (ESS) on the normal skin surface of the human external auditory canal. Measurements were made of the amounts of total ESS and cholesterol obtained both before and at stated intervals after cleaning the ear anal. From these data, comparisons were made between casual and fresh specimens.
