EFFECTS OF CHLORPROMAZINE AND AUTONOMIC BLOCKING AGENTS ON SURVIVAL OF HEAT-STRESSED ADRENALECTOMIZED RATS

摘要

The data presented indicate that certain autonomic nervous system blocking agents can increase the survival rate of adrenalectomized rats exposed to high environmental tempera­tures. The mechanism of action of these com­pounds in producing this effect is unknown. It does not appear that the mechanism involves control of body temperature, because the colon temperatures of surviving animals closely parallel those of the dying animals.
