DEVELOPMENT OF NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTS FOR STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE BONDS

An ultrasonic technique for the evaluation of structural adhesive bonds (the STUB-meter) is being developed and tested. The operation of the instrument is based on the empirically observed fact that the behavior of a ferroelectric transducer, when mechanically coupled to a test specimen, is affected by the structurally properties of the test specimen.
