摘要

The physical properties of a regular grade polyethylene and a linear (highly crystalline) polyethylene have been studied by means of standard tests, stress relaxation tests and a dynamic mechanical test. The results of these tests are given and conclusions drawn.nThis work indicates that the linear polyethylene has many desirable properties. However, the physical properties of the linear polymer as well as the branched, regular polymer are highly dependent upon stress, time and temperature under normal usage. Therefore, a complete knowledge of their behavior over a large range of conditions is necessary for correct application of these materials.nThe dynamic testing method is shown to be a valuable aid in analyzing the performance of a plastic material. Using only one small sample, this non-destructive type test can indicate the behavior of a plastic over a wide range of conditions.
