THE ELEVATION CONTROLLER FOR CAPI OPERATION OF THE AN/CPS-9 WEATHER RADAR

The use of a Constant-Altitude Plan Indicator on a weather radar will require that the radar should scan a large volume expeditiously, according to some regular program. The Elevation Controller directs the radar antenna through this scanning program, and also controls the actions of the remainder of the CAPI display. The radar operator can take control of the antenna at will.nMeasurements showed that an early model of the Controller aimed the antenna within, at the worst, one-quarter degree of the required elevation angles.
