This study was initiated to evaluate various organo-selenium, organo-sulful, and organo-nitrogen additives as oxidation inhibitors in diester base fluids. Samples of these materials were submitted to oven storage at 350℉ for a period eight (8) days after which evaporation losses, change in viscosity, and sludge content were determined. A temperature of 350℉ was selected as representing the upper temperature limit of a -100°to 350℉ grease requirement for which the additives were evaluated.
