Eleven experimental filler wires were prepared and one commercial wire was obtained for submerged-arc welding studies. The compositions of the experimental wires were such that a study of the effects of nickel, manganese, and molybdenum could be made. The ranges of alloy content studied were;nickel – 1.4 to 3.0 percent, manganese – 0.90 to 1.8 percent, and molybdenum – 0.05 to 0.80 percent.
