Serum Transaminase Changes after Local Injury

Small, but statistically significant, increases of serum G-O-T are shown to be associated with local irradiation injury in the rabbit. Similar results are observed after crush injury. If the rabbit leg is subjected to 3 hours of tourniquet ischemia, however, G-O-T elevations of extent comparable to human myocardial infarction and acute hepatocellular damage are observed.
