INFRA-RED C=0 BAND INTENSITY OP ACETIC ACID DERIVATIVES AND CHEMICAL REACTIVITY

It must be noted that in dilute solutions of carboxylic acids the C=0 band is double. One of the maxima, the most absorbent one, corresponds to the dimmer molecule and has a lower frequency than that corresponding to the monomer molecule, which, in turn, showed less absorption in our solutions. It was not possible to eliminate the monomer with our experimental means, although in some cases its absorption is in the range of 1 per cent of the dimmer.
