An analysis has been made to determine the effect of the shock boundary layer on the turbulent heat transfer to the conical section of a sphere-nosed cone for a range of sphere sizes. The heat transfer results were calculated by a method which takes into account the interaction of the viscous boundary layer with the inviscid shock layer and those results were compared with the results of two extreme cases of: (A) The viscous layer with respect to the shock layer. (B) The shock layer assumed to be large with respect to the viscous layer.
