A survey has been made of the unclassified literature relating to the rare earth elements, hafnium, rhodium, and ruthenium. The best available data has been compiled for the abundance and distribution of the elements, the methods of recovery from ores and purification, the reduction to metal, and the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of the elements and their important compounds.
