DEEP SNOW MOBILITY TESTS, HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN, FY 58 Part II:Articulated Dynamometer Vehicle (Polecat)

This report covers the comparative snow performance tests between the standard M29C Weasel and the Articulated Dynamometer Vehicle (Polecat) which were conducted to evaluate the articulated vehicle concept. Since the Polecat and the Weasel have identical running gears, the present tests are a valid evaluation of the concept.n In addition to an increase in drawbar coefficient, the articulated concept provides reduced pitching, full traction under steering, and steering control at all times. Tests also indicate that the track life of the artic­ulated vehicle may be increased.
