摘要

Decreased conversion of glucose-U-C14 to lactic acid in diaphragm incu¬bated in plasma from thermally injured animals was demonstrated. Conversion of glucose-U-C14 to lactic acid was also observed in intact animals.nTurnover times estimated from the C14 activity in lactate indicated a decreased lactic acid turnover in the liver, plasma, and muscle from the un¬injured extremities of the thermally injured rats. The lactic acid turnover in the muscle from the burned extremities appeared to be completely inhibited, Chemical assay showed there was a significant decrease in the glycogen level of the muscle of the unburned extremity of the thermally injured animals.nThere was a significant increase in the specific activity of glyco¬gen in the liver of uninjured animals and no significant change in the liver of thermally injured animals.nThe possibility of circulating substances causing the observed inhibi-tion of glucose uptake in thermal injury is discussed.
