Experiments were conducted to study the kinetics of oxygen chemisorption on evaporated layers of PbS. In general the rate of chemisorption, as determined by measuring the resistance of the layers, increased with increasing temperature and oxygen pressure. The data indicates that 0 ions are being formed predominantly in the ranges of temperature and pressures utilized for the experiments. The relationship of the results obtained to the problem of oxygen photosensitization of PbS is discussed.
