The Preparation of Far Infrared Filters Potentially Useful for the Detection and Analysis of Compounds Containing the Phosphorus-Oxygen-Alky Linkage

Stable transmission filters have been prepared from talc and Fluorothene for the 10 micron infrared region with a half bandwidth of 0.9 micron and a peak transmission of 11%. These filters are applicable to a LOPAIR device for detecting com¬pounds containing the phosphorus-oxygen-alkyl linkage. Replacing the present monochromatic with filters should result in greater simplicity, reduction of cost and weight, and perhaps longer range.
