THEORETICAL AND OBSERVED RESULTS FOR THE ZERO AND ORDINATE CROSSING PROBLEMS OF STATIONARY GAUSSIAN NOISE WITH APPLICATION TO PRESSURE RECORDS OF OCEAN WAVES
The problem of determining the probability density function of the distribution of such intervals is a very difficult one. When the ordinate value is zero, the problem becomes the classical zero crossing problem as described by Rice [1944]. At this time there are no exact solutions to either the zero crossing problem or the ordinate crossing problem know to the authors of this report.
