摘要

This study is the result of a survey conducted to determine the effectiveness of rehabilitation and resocialization programs of the VA for blinded veterans injured between December 7, 1941 and March 31, 1953. The first step in determining the effectiveness of rehabilitation was to gather information on the actual status of the 1,949 blinded veterans. Claims folders were pulled, and followup interviews were conducted by social workers. From this information it became apparent whether or not assistance was needed by the veteran. Appropriate action was taken to assist the blinded veterans, and reports were submitted to the VA central office. Finally, an overall review and statistical tabulations were compiled for a detailed comparative analysis. The comparative analysis of gathered information is the main focus of this study.
