It is the purpose of this work to place in the hands of those engaged in or interested in the development of batteries, a compilation of modern chemical and electrochemical theory selected from the point of view of the battery researcher, together with such information as is currently available on the theoretical aspects of the various systems which are in use, or which show promise of becoming important, either commercially or in specialized applications for our national defense.
