摘要

Psychophysical data collected in studies of visual detection are routinely subjected to probit analysis. This analysis involves fitting a cumulative normal distribution func?tion to the experimental data, in accordance with the principle of maximum likelihood. The application of this principle required the solution of a set of simultaneous equations. An iterative procedure for solving these equations with the aid of desk calculators is described in the present report.
