NOTE ON GROUND ILLUMINATION IN THE NEAR ZONE OF A PARABOLOID REFLECTOR

Measurements were made of near field intensities behind the aperture plane of a paraboloidal antenna, in the principal E- and H-planes. The data indicate how ground illumination may be significant in limiting the performance of a radiotelescope.
