摘要

Canonical formalism for the atmospheric “flow field” is derived based on the variational principle. Application of results to the motion of closed systems introduces various terms which may be significant. Since there are certain phenomena which may be treated as closed systems, - such as hurricanes, severe storms, and at times constant pressure balloons, suggestions are made of the possible importance of these various terms in the prediction problem.
