It was with the purpose of elucidating some of these problems that a study was undertaken several years ago with Pasteurella pestis,strain ALL22B1. This organism presented two advantages required for such a study: (1) The growth factor requirements of this strain were representative of the “species,”(2) The requirements experimental procedures unwieldy.
