Equipment and Techniques for In-Flight Deployment of Long Train Instrumentation Packages from High-Altitude Balloons

This report discusses and describes a technique and the equipment necessary to deploy and accurately position (relative) several instrumented canisters weighing a total of 300 pounds along a 3000-foot line during ascent of a high-altitude balloon. The system is compact at time of launch. Its configuration and equipment should satisfy a number of anticipated requirements;and, if major changes are required in the system's capacity, they can be made by simple design modifications.
