REPORT NO. 54 IGNITION OF AND FLAMES ABOVE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE SOLUTIONS

If a concentrated aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is heated to a temperature in the region of 100℃. It is possible to ignite a continuously-propagating “flame” above the liquid surface that consists of the decomposition reaction alone.nThe purpose of the present work was to determine the limiting conditions under which such flames can be ignited and to establish some of the characteristics of such flames, particularly the rate of burning.
