A MODIFICATION OF THE WENNER –SMITH-SOULE SALINITY BRIDGE FOR THE DETERMINATION OF SALINITY IN SEA WATER

A bridge is described for the determination of the salinity of sea water on a ship at sea by an electrical conductivity method. The device is faster than titration methods and. has an accuracy considerably better than 0.01‰ in salinity. The device is believed to be an improvement over the bridge of Bradshaw and Schleicher. A method of controlling refrigerated bath temperatures to ± 0.01℃. is described. Details of construction, opera-tion, and maintenance are given applying to six bridges constructed to date.
