This assignment is related to the general object of improving sensitive devices, by the consideration of packaging to protect the devices during transportation and handling. Specifically, cushioning material of various kinds and dimensions, were tested and information compiled for the determination of optimum efficiency and economy in reducing the shock below the breaking point or fragility factor of the item to be packaged. Resultant data were recorded and charted. Incidentally, improvements were made in the original test equipment specified for this work. Complete details of the work are given in the contractor's final report (see Bibliography). At the conclusion of the work the contractor furnished a proposed specification for such material.
