摘要

Research carried out under contract may be briefly summarized as follows.na) Seleno-dorivatives. A largo aeries of seleno-derivatives, many not yet described in the chemical literature, have been prepared, /the pre-paration and purification of these compounds are very difficult because of their low yield and the separation of metallic selenium.nb) Thiophene derivatives. Numerous thiophene derivatives, phenyl-thiophenes, diphenyl-thiophenes and thienyl-ketones, with some benzyl-thiophenes, have been prepared through a large series of intermediates. Many of these derivatives are new compounds.nc) Theoretical Correlation of the Experimental Results. The electronic states of thiophene have been calculated by the V.B. method, and, for comparison, those of furan and cyclopentadiene.
