THE POWER SERIES EXPANSION OF A CERTAIN CLASS OF FUNCTIONALS

The technique described in this report is in effect a generalization of a procedure used in classical astronomy that involved the so-called Newcomb operators. The general procedure is derived in section 2, and is summarized in equations (11), (12), (15), (17), and (18), Section 3 deals with possible extensions of the method and of section 4 contains some comments on the relationship between the present method and the special cases treated previously by earlier workers.
