Decomposition of Vinyl acetylene and Diacetylene and Their Interaction with Acetylene

Vinylacetylene and diacetylene are possible intermediates in the thermal decomposition of acetylene. The present experiments were, therefore, undertaken to study the decomposition of these and their interaction with other gases such as acety¬lene or hydrogen.nThe reactions were studied in a flow system at temperatures of 400-900°, using vapor-liquid chromatography to analyze the gaseous products. Reaction is rapid enough so that experiments were limited to mixtures containing 20°/o or less or the reagent in an inert diluent.
